TRAINING AND RETENTION OF HEALTH PROFESSIONALS PROJECT
The English Community Organization of Lanaudière (ECOL), in partnership with McGill University and Health Canada, and our regional partner – The Integrated Centre for Health and Social Services of Lanaudière (CISSSL), are working together to improve and promote the availability of healthcare services to its English-speaking population, through the ‘Training Retention of Health Professionals Project.’
If you are interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, ECOL’s booklet “Open the Door to Your Future” will soon be available (May 2016). The booklet will provide a brief description of careers that are most in demand, along with the educational requirements and number of years of study per career. The Lanaudière region has a wide range of establishments in which you can choose to complete your internship and start a new career.
The Lanaudière Region
Only an hour away from Montreal, Lanaudière offers a quality of life where the proximity to work, family, friends, outdoor activities, plus affordable housing provide a great environment to realize your future.
In order to promote the recruitment of bilingual health professionals to this region, ECOL would like to provide support for:
- Transportation and accompaniment to open houses
- ‘Student-for-a-Day’ outings
- Career fairs
- Job shadowing
- Student mentoring, and
- Help in transitioning to the next step
A potential bursary is also being offered to qualifying students, who agree to return to the Lanaudière region to practice their profession.
