TRAINING AND RETENTION OF

HEALTH PROFESSIONALS

The English Community Organization of Lanaudière (ECOL), in partnership with McGill University and Health Canada, and our regional partner, The Integrated Centre for Health and Social Services of Lanaudière (CISSSL), are working together to improve and promote the availability of healthcare services to its English-speaking population, through the "Training Retention of Health Professionals Project."

The Lanaudière Region

Only an hour away from Montreal, Lanaudière offers a quality of life where the proximity to work, family, friends, outdoor activities, and affordable housing provide a great environment to realize your future. The Lanaudière region has a wide range of establishments in which you can choose to complete your internship and start a new career.

In order to promote the recruitment of bilingual health professionals to this region, ECOL provides support for:

  • Transportation and accompaniment to open houses at post-secondary institutions

  • Documentation health careers

  • “Student-for-a-Day” experiences

  • Career fairs

  • Job shadowing

  • Support in finding internship possibilities

  • Student mentoring

  • Help in transitioning to the next step

A bursary is also being offered to qualifying students, who agree to return to the Lanaudière region to practice their profession.
